What is this announcement?
We have voluntarily announced a recall to inform consumers of a potential risk of injury from the canopy hinge mechanism of select Passage™, Alano™, and Spree™ model strollers manufactured by Graco® prior to March 2008.


Although this is deemed a recall in the US, there is no need to return your product. Instead, protective hinge covers will be made available, free of charge, for consumers with affected stroller models globally upon request.

Are products sold outside of the United States affected by this action?
We are offering protective covers to all consumers with affected strollers worldwide; however, there have been no reported incidences of injuries from these strollers outside of the U.S. For international contact information and to order a protective hinge cover if you think your stroller might be affected, Click Here.

This stroller has been sold the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.

 

What is the safety concern?
It has been determined that the canopy hinge mechanism on select Passage™, Alano™, and Spree™ model strollers may pose a finger tip laceration and/or amputation hazard to small children. Graco has worked closely with CPSC to develop an appropriate fix, and is in full compliance with reporting this issue.


What model stroller does this apply to?
Graco has produced two (2) different styles of the canopy hinge mechanism for these stroller model numbers.  Strollers or travel systems with the canopy hinge shown in Photo “A”, ARE affected by this safety notice.  Those strollers that have the canopy hinge design shown in Photo “B”, are NOT affected by this safety notice. You can check to see if your model is affected here.

 

Strollers with the canopy hinge design shown in Photo-A are the ONLY models affected.

What do I do if I have an affected model?
For affected strollers, consumers do not need to send back their product. Graco will provide free canopy hinge covers to all consumers with affected strollers worldwide upon request.

In the meantime, we’re advising consumers to stop using their strollers, and to contact Graco to order a protective cover for the hinge.

Do I need to return my stroller to the store or to Graco?
No, you do not need to return your stroller. You can request the protective hinge covers by filling out an online form here. The protective covers can be easily affixed, and instructions and a video demonstration can be found here


What will I receive when I order the covers?
You will receive two covers to fit the left and right hand hinges on the sides of the affected stroller canopy.


Is it safe to use my stroller while I wait for the covers to arrive?
Until your protective cover arrives and you have fitted it to your stroller, Graco recommends that you stop using your stroller. Your protective cover should arrive in about two weeks.

 

What color hinge covers are available?
The hinge covers will be offered in a variety of colors to match different stroller fashions. The colors offered in the US will be: sage green, brown, grey, Days of Hunny and Kira. Covers will be offered in grey outside of the US.

 

Does this protective cover fit other similar strollers made by a different manufacturer?
This protective cover is designed to fit these specific designs of Graco strollers only and are not available to owners of other strollers or other Graco stroller models.


What information do I need when I order my protective cover?
Please be prepared with your model number and manufacture date, which can be found on a sticker located on the lower, inside portion of the rear frame, above the rear wheels.

The hinge design show in the photo below is the ONLY design affected.

 

 

Where were the affected models sold?
The strollers cited in this alert were sold in the US at AAFES, Burlington Coat Factory, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, K-Mart, Fred Meyer, Meijers, Navy Exchange, Sears, Target, Wal-Mart, and various other retailers.  The strollers sold for between $79.99 – $89.99.  The travel systems sold for between $149.99 – $199.99.


When were the affected models sold?
The affected models were sold from October 2004 through February 2008.


Does this announcement affect products that are currently in stores?
No, only models manufactured prior to March 2008 are affected by this announcement.


I have more than one Graco stroller. Can I order more than one set of protective covers?
Yes, consumers are allowed to order more than one set of protective covers.
